His Majesty was born of the elder branch of the House of Lauwiner, in the canton from which the family takes its name, and was raised in the traditions of public service.
Early Life
His Majesty’s upbringing followed the customs of the House — instruction in letters, in arms, in the languages of the Confederation, and in the management of the family lands. He passed through the civil and military examinations of the canton with distinction.
Public Service
Before his accession, His Majesty served on the city council of his canton and was a candidate for the regional councils. His record there is one of moderation, attention to the practical needs of the people, and resistance to faction.
Personal Interests
Beyond his duties, His Majesty preserves the customs of the highland country, takes an active interest in the welfare of the Legion, and maintains a close correspondence with the children of the Empire’s schools.
