Three orders of dress are recognised: the parade order, the service order, and the field order. Each is prescribed in detail by regulation of the General Staff.
Parade Order
Worn upon state occasions, at the entry of the Sovereign, and on the feasts of the Crown. Tunic of imperial burgundy with gold facings, white belt, bearskin shako, and full decorations.
Service Order
Worn in garrison and on ordinary duty. Tunic of imperial burgundy with brass buttons, peaked cap, sabre for officers.
Field Order
Worn on operations and exercise. Practical combat dress in tones of grey and brown, with the Lauwiner Cross worn at the left breast and the unit cipher upon the shoulder.
General Rules
- The uniform is never to be worn by those not enrolled in the Legion.
- Decorations are worn in the prescribed order only.
- The bearskin shako is reserved to the Royal Guard.
