The coronation of His Majesty Jonas I was conducted according to the ancient form of the House, in the presence of the Council, the General Staff of the Legion, and the heads of cantonal government.
Order of the Ceremony
- The Recognition — the Sovereign is presented to the assembly and acclaimed.
- The Oath — the Sovereign swears upon the Constitution to govern with justice and to defend the realm.
- The Anointing — performed in private behind a screen of cloth-of-gold, in continuation of the ancient rite.
- The Investiture — the Sovereign is robed and presented with the Sceptre, the Sword, the Orb and the Crown.
- The Enthronement — the Sovereign takes the throne, and the homage of the Council and the Legion is rendered.
- The Proclamation — the new reign is proclaimed within and beyond the Palace.
