The Three Charges
- The First Charge: the person of the Sovereign and the Royal House
- The Second Charge: the borders, the seat of government, and the institutions
- The Third Charge: the subjects of the Empire, in disaster, calamity, or insurrection
The Legion does not act against the people, save by direct order of the Crown sitting in Council, and never in the suppression of lawful petition.
